Roadies (road bikes and hybrids) – about 75Ks along the black stuff from Atherton pool (Robert St). Sat 01st Oct’11 be at the pool 8:00am for 8:15 am departure.
B’fast/brunch Mareeba & then onto Mt Molloy for lunch (can already taste the steak sandwich & chips and naturally the mandatory drink to wash it down and replenish the fluids).
Overnight Mt Molloy with roughly an 8:00am kick-off (after a light b’fast) for those tackling the return leg to Atherton on Sun.
Roadies require support vehicle/s to carry some luggage & swags. (maybe the odd bike) Let Lenny or me know so that riders’ gear not left stranded.
Contact Len Curtis - 4095 8486 for further info.
Dirties (mountain bikes) - about 150Ks along dirt & bush tracks from Atherton pool (Robert St). Sat 01st Oct’11 be at the pool 6:00am for 6:15 am departure
Basically a good full day’s ride with coffee break at Jacques then onto Koah across the Barron (get to dip your pinkies crossing this one) onto Mona Mona and Kuranda pine plantation for lunch break then up Black Mt Road and across to the back of Wetherby Stn and onto Mt Molloy. Not sure what’s on the agenda for the return leg for the super keen.
Think Mark’s already got support vehicles lined up to carry gear & lunches for the Dirties.
Contact Mark Knowles – 0402 340 549 for further info
Accommodation - Mt Molloy National Hotel – 4094 1133. Give them a tingle if you want to book a room. Otherwise, it’s roll-out the swag. Have known the odd van to tag along for the night (again just check with the pub if contemplating such)
If we get enough participants, the pub will in all probability put on some live music to rock the evening away. Entertaining evenings for those with energy still to burn. (Carol & Albert have been known to throw in the odd Bavarian dance session).
If you wish to tackle one or part of these social rides, then notify contact above or jot your name down on the noticeboard at the pool.
